About GLEbill
GLEbill is a simple, low-cost tool to create, import and validate, edit and export legal ebills to any current LEDES format. Users can:
- Create invoices from within GLEbill.
- To short-cut invoice creation, import repeatable information from past Client/Matter invoices into the edit template.
- Import invoices in any of the current LEDES invoice formats. GLEbill does not support LEDES 2000 which was discontinued in 2022 by the LEDES Board.
- GLEbill provides a proprietary template to draft invoices off-line in any of the LEDES formats, that can then be imported into GLEbill.
- Easily see invalid or missing data elements on imported invoices.
- Edit invoices from within GLEbill.
- Revalidate edited ebills while in edit mode.
- Save draft or incomplete invoices at any time.
- Export to any current LEDES invoice format.

Why We Created GLEbill
GLEbill is the software offering of Global Legal Ebilling, LLC (“GLE”). GLE has provided legal technology consulting services associated with Matter Management, Ebilling and Contract Management systems since 2011. GLE works with:
- Legal and insurance claims organizations needing system selection, design, rollout and remediation assistance.
- Law firms requiring assistance with ebilling process optimization and technology selection.
- Vendors needing product design, feature development and market analysis services.
We noted the need for a simple LEDES create/import/ edit/export tool in our legal technology consulting practice, especially for global firms without access to Western-style law firm management systems.
Custom requirements and the need to correct rejected submissions have contributed to an incredibly inefficient and time-consuming process.
There has to be a better way. This is why we created GLEbill
GLEbill Leadership
GLEbill is the brainchild of industry powerhouse Jane A. Bennitt, founder of Global Legal Ebilling, LLC.
Jane began working in the Legal Ebilling vertical in November 1994 as the first employee at TyMetrix. While there, Jane worked in every capacity imaginable, ultimately filling the role of Director of Data Services. Thereafter Jane worked as a legal technology consultant, eventually founding GLE in 2011.
Jane has an encyclopedic understanding of the data set involved in matter management and ebilling. Her ebilling superpower is that she can look at a screen of data and see patterns and anomalies that are not apparent to others. She can trace web data issues back to the source system page to determine whether errors are user-related, from an imported data set, or simply programming that needs to be corrected.
Jane works with legal and insurance organizations implementing ebilling, usually in the most difficult of circumstances: globally situated companies with custom needs, usually having numerous, often disconnected, financial systems. Frequently Jane assists with law firm on-boarding, often serving as a main point of contact until firms new to ebilling have successfully submitted and been paid. She also provides client-side troubleshooting and Help Desk assistance until internal Project Managers are fully training to confidently respond to questions on the new system and processes.
Jane also works with law firms needing ebilling optimization assistance and vendors on feature creation.
Jane served on the LEDES Oversight Committee Board for leadership since its founding, filling the role of President for seventeen years between 2006 and 2025, when she finally retired from the Board. During this time legal ebilling expanded globally, tax compliance features were perfected, and jurisdictional tax authority system were first established and then spread globally. Jane created the XML 2.0x, 2.1x and 2.2x formats to support global ebilling, spearheaded all revisions to these standards, and has contributed to numerous subcommittee efforts including the LEDES API.
In an industry full of big personalities, Jane is often challenged over “who’s done it longer” and has always won the challenge. It is unlikely that anyone in the industry has a better understanding of how legal ebilling works, its possibilities, or its issues. Jane believes that legal ebilling is not “done,” that there are many areas where improvement is needed, and she donates an incredible amount of time every year nudging the industry toward a better solution.
We created GLEbill to address an unmet need in the marketplace for a low-cost tool that can efficiently create, edit and output LEDES invoice files. GLEbill provides a simple, efficient solution without a big hit to your budget, with subscription tiers to support heavy-duty billers, and also consultants and law department project staff needing a short-term solution during QA and testing of new systems.
